The Young Artist Program (for Singing Actors 8-13), affectionately known as YAP, has been in existence since the spring of 2003. Each fall semester, spring semester, and summer session ends with a culminating event that is created and performed by the students enrolled.
SING
Perform Broadway songs, folk songs and songs written especially for young people
Study in alternating private and group sessions with teaching artists with years of experience and special training in dealing with children’s voices
Use physical movement techniques to learn musicianship skills in a fun and easy way
ACT
Engage in theater games to learn crucial acting and ensemble skills
Create your own scripts based on themes that are important to you
Perform the scenes that you create in class in the culminating event
MOVE
Use movement to coordinate and strengthen the body and voice
Engage the body in a manner that improves focus and learning in all situations
Use cutting edge movement techniques to learn musicianship skills in a fun and easy way
Enhance your performance with movements that are accessible and appropriate for young people
